About

MAK Architects was established in 2019 and is interested in designing and delivering buildings that respond to their physical, cultural and historic context - with the ambition that they will grow naturally and become a meaningful part of the place and the lives of people who surround it.

With every new project, the practice pays close attention to the needs of the client, the constraint and opportunities of the site, the selection of materials and the use of natural light to create a considered design solution that is bespoke to your needs.

The practice has a portfolio comprising of new houses, extensions, restorations, interior design, branding and graphic design.

Experience

Before establishing the practice, Barry spent 7 years working at BDP and currently works for Doran Cray in Maynooth.

Barry’s experience to date comprises a range of projects that vary in scale and complexity. Notable projects include the Wren Hotel, a 155-key hotel in the centre of Dublin City; the refurbishment of a number of third level educational spaces for LIT and numerous masterplans including Maynooth University and Haulbowline. Barry was also involved in BDPs entry for the RIAI Schools Competition in 2013 which was one of six shortlisted out of 180 entries.

Barry is a registered Architect with the RIAI.
